milk soluble Whole milk is a nutritious feed for calves; however milk from the modern dairy cow is deficient in several vitamins and trace minerals through the dilution effect of higher production. Consequently, whole milk requires vitamin and trace mineral fortification to ensure the calf’s minimum daily requirements are met. Protection from coccidia (gut parasite) infection in the pre-ruminant calf is desirable as well as maintaining intestinal microbial balance and gut health.

ProviCo currently markets 2 effective Whole Milk Fortifiers under the FortiMILK label. Rearers can select the product which best suits their calf rearing system.

Using our extensive Research & Innovation, we have carefully selected ingredients that offer superior milk solubility and that are readily absorbed by the infant calf. ProfeSTART® FortiMILK range of Whole Milk Additives

The ProfeSTART® FortiMILK range contains Bovatec (lasalocid) for improved live-weight gains and feed efficiency and for the control of clinical signs of coccidiosis and reduction of faecal shedding caused by Eimeria bovis and Eimeria zuernii in growing cattle.

When using ProfeSTART® FortiMILK rearers must note the following:

  • DESIGNED FOR USE in whole milk for CALVES. Feed Only as Directed.
  • DO NOT feed to newborn calves within the first 24 hours of life.
  • Use of other milk additives or milk replacers that contain ionophores (lasalocid or monensin) should be avoided. Excessive consumption of ionophores or use within the first 24 hours of life may result in ionophore toxicity in young calves.
  • NOT TO BE FED to dogs, horses or other equine species. May prove fatal if fed to equids.
  • Accidental consumption of lasalocid or monensin medicated feed should be avoided.
